The DS.I.R. operates a scheme called Transfer and Trading in Technology (TATT) under which it can grant assistence for technology exports. Apart from financial assistence, the prospective technology or service exporters can also identify the possible export opportunities by studying the technology profiles of various developing countries, which have been prepared with the support of D.S.I.R. to identify the technology needs of those countries.

Scheme of Transfer and Trading in Technology(TATT)
Under this scheme, the D.S.I.R. provides support by way of grant, to finance efforts for technology exports. The quantum of grant and eligibility is determined case to case, but grant can extend to 100% of the eligible expense.Eligible Activities :
  1. Preparation of reports/films regarding capabilities and experience of Indian industrial units and other concerned organisations in exportsof technologies and services.
  2. Preparation of technological profiles having export potential.
  3. Training programmes for potential foreign clients.
  4. Preparation and disseminatin of publicity and market promotion materials like technology catalogues, brochures, video films, audio-visuals, etc.
  5. Participation in technology trade fairs, exhibitions etc. (including participation fee, cost of display etc.).
  6. Setting up demonstration plants/pilots plants projecting Indian technology, either in India or abroad (in such cases, the grant is usually restricted to about 20% of the cost of pilot plant).
  7. Documentation expenses for delegations (for example brochures, pamphlets, advertisement materials, etc.) provided the delegatioon also includes technology exports.
Procedure :
A grant under the TATT scheme is sanctioned on a case to case basis. The details of the proposal may be sent to D.S.I.R., Tecnology Transfer Division, Technology Bhavan, New Mehrauli Road, New Delhi-110016.
