Catholic Syrian Bank, Private Sector Banks In India

Catholic Syrian Bank was established on 26th November, 1920 at Thrissur, Kerala (India). It commenced business on 1st January, 1921 with an authorized capital of Rs. 5 lakhs and paid up capital of Rs. 45270/-.

In August 1969, the Bank acquired the status of Scheduled Bank. In the year 1975, it attained 'A' Class Scheduled Bank rank when its total Deposits crossed Rs. 25 crores.

The Bank has a very strong rural base with approximately 80% of the branches in rural and semi-urban areas. More than 75% of its clientele belong to small and financial weaker section of the society.

The bank has a network of 334 branches and extension counters across the country. It includes 5 NRI branches, 5 SSI branches, 5 industrial Finance branches and 4 Service branches.

Catholic Syrian Bank Loans and Advances for NRIs

The following types of loans are provided to the NRIs:

Loans against the NRIs term deposists with the Bank for purposes other than investment in India on non-repatriation basis and for acquiring flats/houses in India. Loans/ overdrafts can be extended to residents against the term deposits of NRIs.
Loans against shares and other securities and immovable property (other than agricultural or plantation property or farmhouse) for meeting their personal requirements or own business purposes other than agricultural/ plantation activities.
Loans against Resurgent India Bonds(RIBs) for peronal requirements or own business purpose other than agricultural/ plantation activities.
Housing Loans for acquiring / repairs/ renovation/ modernisation.
