Vijaya Bank

Vijaya Bank started its operation in 1931 to promote banking habit, thrift and entrepreneurship among the farming community of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka. It became a scheduled bank in 1958.

It merged with nine smaller banks during 1963-68 and grew as All India Bank and was nationalised on 15th April 1980. It has 910 computerized branches all over India, 19 of them having ATM facilities.

Vijaya Bank Deposit Scheme

Apart from the regular deposits of Savings Account and Current Account, Vijaya Bank also offer different types of Term Deposits to its customers and an exclusive scheme known as V-Star Savings Scheme.

V-Star Savings Scheme

Under this saving scheme, Vijaya Bank offers two types of loans and it is eligible for those depositers who maintain a minimum monthly balance of Rs. 5,000/- during the 6 preceding months. The rate of interest is 1.5% lower than the applicable rate to respective scheme. These loans are also extended on a revolving basis. The two types as as mentioned below:

  • A term Loan equivalent to 4 times the average monthly minimum balance for the preceding 6 months subject to maximum of Rs.50000 for purchase of household articles/consumer durables.

  • Loan under 'V-Cash' or 'V-Equip' Schemes subject to eligibility under the schemes.

Term Deposits

Recurring Deposit Scheme - Customer are free to choose either fixed or variable monthly installments. The period range is from 6 to 120 months in completed three months with minimum of Rs. 10/- or its multiples.

Vijaya Cash Certificate (VCC) - It helps customers to build capital benefited with compound interest. Certificates available for period of 6 to 10 years at Rs. 100/- denominations.

Vijaya Stock Invest Deposit Scheme - Customers investing in stocks and shares gets handsome returns in investing in this account @ Rs. 100/- per unit irrespective of allotment of shares. Alloted shares holder can withdraw partial amounts. Its flexible, convenient and high-yielding.

Vijayshree Units - This units, issued at Rs. 1000/- multiples, gives higher interest rates and facilitate partial withdrawal. The scheme's interest is compounded on a quarterly basis if the deposit period exceeds 3 months.

Fixed Deposit Scheme - The minimum deposit amount is Rs. 50/- and cab be deposited for any period ranging from 15 days to 10 years.

Jeevan Nidhi - This money facilitates collection of money from doorstep. The minimum deposit is Re. 1/- and the period of deposit can be 12, 39 or 63 months.

Capital Gains Accounts Scheme - This Scheme helps an income tax assessee to avail the benefit of exemption from Capital Gains.

Vijaya Bank Credit Cards

Vijaya Bank offers the following types of Credit Cards to its customers :
  • Vijaya Classic Visa/Mastercard
  • Vijaya Gold Visa/Mastercard
  • Vijaya Corporate Cards
  • Vijaya International Visa Gold Cards
  • Vijaya Global Cards
Card broken is charged Rs. 150/- for replacement and Rs. 200/- is charged for hot listing a card. The reasons for hot listing a card are as follows :
  • Card Lost
  • Card Stolen
  • Fraudulent use (Including Non payment of bills)
  • Counterfeit Reported
  • Card holder Deceased
  • Card Canceled during validity
